On Saturday 20th September, there was a wide variety of talent on display, beginning in the morning with some artistic volunteers gathering to decorate the Church beautifully with flowers, fruit, vegetables and pictures for the Harvest celebrations.
The Community Café’s friendly scarecrow, Rev TrinityTwiggs, was also welcomed into the church, watching down over everyone from on high! This was followed in the afternoon with a tea, which was enjoyed by over 30 people, most of whom then stayed for the ‘Festival of Talent’, which saw entertaining performances from singers, pianists, poetry readers and a humorous compère. A retiring collection raised over £85 for the charity, ‘All We Can’ (formerly known as ‘Methodist Relief & Development Fund).
The Harvest Festival Service the next day was led by one of the Lay Preachers in the Lowestoft and East Suffolk Circuit, who was making her first visit to Trinity. Over the course of the whole weekend many gifts of food and drink were added to the harvest display.
On the Monday the children from the Playgroup welcomed their parents in for part of the morning, which continued the church’s harvest theme and included a visit into Church to see the harvest display and further donations were brought for the Foodbank. In total from the Harvest celebrations, 19 bagfuls and 4 boxes of food were donated to the Foodbank by the congregation and playgroup children.
