All of the regular activities took place last week and in addition, the playgroup performed their traditional Nativity Play to a very appreciative audience of friends, family and church members, culminating with everyone singing ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’.

On Saturday the stewards held their monthly meeting discussing, amongst other things, all of the celebrations of Christmas taking place at Trinity over the next few weeks. At the same time a small band of volunteers continued the process of decorating the church and halls for Christmas, adding Christmas trees and a memory tree, on which people can hang stars to remember loved ones no longer with them or who will be far away at Christmas. The four charity stockings were also hung up, ready to collect donations throughout the Christmas period for the Fishermen’s Mission, Medecins sans Frontieres, Shelter and Nelson’s Journey. On Sunday, the second Sunday in Advent, the service was led by Rev.C. Kennell. In the afternoon, the residents and staff of Harleston House Care Home moved across the road into the church to put on an entertaining performance for family and friends, based very loosely on Snow White.

On Saturday 10th December at 10am until 12noon there will be a Family Christmas Craft Session, when all sorts of cutting, sticking and glittering will produce an array of Christmas cards and decorations! All ages are welcome (children need to have an adult with them). In the evening, the Choral Society will perform their Christmas concert at 7.30pm. On Sunday 11th December, the third Sunday in Advent, the service at 10.45am, will be led by Rev. Dusty Miller. As usual, there will be various activities at the back of the church for any children present to enjoy and afterwards everyone is invited to stay for refreshments and a chat in the lounge.

On Monday the Community Cafe will be open as usual from 9am until 1pm, serving drinks, filled rolls, scones and cakes. The lounge will also be available with a play area for young children. The playgroup will open for the last week of term, which will finish with a party on Friday and the Short Tennis group will meet at 7.15pm. On Tuesday, the Phoenix Group will gather for a Christmas buffet lunch and at 6pm, the Singing Futures Children’s Choir will be rehearsing for their forthcoming appearance at the Carols and Mince Pies event on Saturday 17th December. On Wednesday the Luncheon Club will be open for those who have booked a place. Over the next few weeks,Trinity Singers will be visiting four different residential homes to entertain the residents as well as performing at the Carols and Mince Pies event.
